The filing office for your resident agent and your entity is the Maryland State Department of Assessments and Taxation. If your company is ever left without an agent on record, Maryland can strip its good standing — the status banks, lenders, and buyers check — until the default is cured.

• Annual report. Every Maryland LLC files the Annual Report and Personal Property Return with the Department of Assessments and Taxation by April 15. The fee is $300, and you confirm your agent and addresses at the same time.
• Miss the deadline and Maryland marks the entity delinquent and, after a notice-and-cure window, administratively dissolves it. Reinstatement means back filings, penalties, and a reinstatement fee.
• Foreign entities: if you formed in Maryland but operate elsewhere, you keep a Maryland agent here and a registered agent in your home state too.
• “Resident agent,” not “registered agent.” Maryland law uses the term resident agent for the same service-of-process role.
